There is not a cause in the world he would be willing to die for. There are some he would be willing to kill for, and many he would be willing to kill in the name of while actually doing it for fun and money (in that order) without actually subscribing to the cause himself. Dying in the name of an ideal is no longer on his game plan, however.
Although he would be willing to die for Hans.
He smokes, although he has been trying to cut back for practical reasons. He has no brand preference, but he can distinguish between decent tobacco and non-decent tobacco while he's smoking it, and has had far too much of the latter lately.
His favourite weapon is a gravity knife with "Deus Ex Machina" engraved in small script letters on the blade. It was a gift from a friend who is now dead; the engraving was part of an in-joke between them about how much better the world would be if it were acceptable to assassinate people at will.
His parents died in a boating accident when he was four. He was raised by his aunt and uncle - Tanta Elodie and Oncle Pasqual.
He doesn't have much of a sweet tooth, although somewhere along the line (and I'm not sure where, because I'm fairly certain he's never actually been to South America) he has developed a taste for New World-style spicy food, which is rarely something he can find in Europe.
He can cook, but he can't bake worth a nickel.
The first girl he was ever attracted to was Mireille - she who became the wife of Bertrat. When he was 24, after she was married, they happened to meet in Paris; they began affair which lasted at intervals until he left the country. Every once in a rare while, things will happen and they will sleep together again. Bertrat, of course, does not suspect any of this. Marie-Pierre half-worries that Stephane might be his.
Although he doesn't generally mind being touched, especially in the context of an actual relationship, he doesn't particularly like to be the one to initiate physical contact himself. It feels like seduction, which feels like work.
He likes cargolade (escargot, in French and English) well enough - he was raised to eat snails - but he really likes it because it freaks out foreigners, and he finds that very entertaining.
His favourite language to swear in is English. He thinks "fuck" is the sweariest word in any language he has ever heard.
